Questions agents actually ask.
How much does it cost to join?
$49 for 1 year; $89 for 2 (save 10%). Not per month, not per calendar year — per full year. Zero other fees.
My license has been inactive for a while — is that a problem?
Not if your continuing education is current. Check the DBPR website: “Current, Inactive” is fine to activate. “Involuntary Inactive” means missing education or fees need to be resolved first. “Current, Active” is ready to go.
I've got a client I'm ready to refer, what do I do?
Use the referral form on the Agent Services page, available once you've signed up and logged in.
I've got questions about a potential deal or client, what do I do?

Do you charge your agents a split?
Yes, it's 90/10 — you always keep 90% of every closed transaction, no hidden fees. Cross $3,500 in Firelight retained commissions and it upgrades to 95/5.
How soon and how do I get paid my commissions?
Within 2 business days after funds clear. Go to Agent Resources Section 08 and let us know the details of the commission about to be received. This is how we track it to make sure you receive your funds as quickly as possible.
What if I leave Firelight before a commission I earned is received?
You still get your full commission once the pending deal closes and the cooperating brokerage remits funds.
What about my MLS access?
MLS access ends when you join. You can optionally add My State MLS for about $50/month or $420/year, or refer MLS-required deals to a colleague for a referral commission.
How soon will my license be active with Firelight?
Typically within 2 hours. We do same-day license activation whenever feasible.
If I switch brokerages or cancel my membership, do I get a refund?
Refunds are available only within 72 hours of signup or renewal. No refunds after license activation, but your membership stays valid through the contract term.
How do I arrange payment for an earned commission from a closed transaction?
Log into Agent Services and use the “deals about to close” link to arrange payment.
How do I change or cancel my membership?
Sign into Agent Services and click “Change/Cancel Membership” at the top. Note: annual fees become non-refundable once your license activates.
Can I pay for two years at once?
A 2-year membership is $89 (save 10%), paid once.
What is / do I need Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance?
E&O insurance is included for every Firelight agent, protecting you against paperwork mistakes or missing information.
What does “referral license,” “referral only,” or “referral status” mean?
These describe internal brokerage restrictions, not a state licensing category. Firelight agents aren't restricted from working directly with clients — go referral-only if you prefer, or take on full transactions.
How much will I save by joining Firelight?
About $1,700 a year by cutting board dues, MLS fees, and NAR fees — plus no desk or monthly fees.
What if I'm happier with this arrangement than I thought?
Then you're doing it right.
Is Firelight Realty in any other states besides Florida?
Not yet — currently available only to Florida license holders. Expansion to other states is under consideration.
What about buying a house for myself — can I still earn a commission?
100% yes. Negotiate your own commission on a personal purchase, typically 2.5–3.0%, or apply it toward closing costs.
What about selling my own home?
Three options: sell FSBO, self-represent through My State MLS ($345 if it closes), or use Firelight's full-service representation at a 1.00% fee plus buyer-side compensation. This offer extends to immediate family members too.
