How do I sign up?
There are links all around the site, or you can click here. You'll answer a few questions, pay the annual membership cost, and then we'll send you a link to the standard forms (W-9, 1099, Independent Contractor Agreement).
My license has been inactive for a while - is that a problem?
No, as long as you've kept up with your continuing education requirement. If on the DBPR website, your license says Current, Inactive - smooth sailing. If it says Involuntary Inactive, you need to check to see what continuing education requirements are missing before we can activate your license. If your license says Current, Active, you're all set too.
I've got a client I'm ready to refer, what do I do?
The referral form is on the Agent Services Page
I've got questions about a potential deal or client, what do I do?
Contact Us Here and we'll get right on it.
Do you charge your agents a commission?
In most cases, yes, and it's 10% of their commission. The agent always keeps at least 90% of every closed transaction. If a Firelight Agent refers a client to our sister brokerage, we charge zero commission on the referred transaction. Transactions netting a Firelight Agent less than $250.00 are not subject to a commission.
How soon and how do I get paid my commissions?
Sometimes we can arrange for you to be paid directly at closing. If not, you will be paid no later than 3 business days after we receive payment from a cooperating broker - and we pay by Zelle, Direct Deposit, or Paper Check - your choice. To arrange for your earned commission, complete the Earned Commission form on Agent Services Page on this site.
What if I leave Firelight before a commission I earned is received?
If you have a pending deal which hasn't closed if/when you depart Firelight, you still absolutely get your regular 90% as soon as the deal closes and the cooperating brokerage pays us.
Wouldn't I make more money if I were writing deals?
Maybe, it depends on the type of deal. If you are confident you can write several deals a year (buy-side and/or sell-side) then Referral Realty may not be the most lucrative for you. Then again, as a Referral Agent, you have none of the hassles of touring homes, the back-and-forth with listing agents, scheduling showings, open houses, home inspections, appraisals, or the regular interfacing to keep deals together. Also, you're not paying all those annual fees. If you think you'd thrive in a traditional brokerage environment, we do have a sister brokerage (called Local Choice Realty) where you'll get excellent splits and tremendous broker support. But you will have to pay Board and MLS fees.
How soon will my license be Active with Firelight Realty
Within 1 business day (sometimes less) after receiving payment, you will receive a link to set up your account on our site. Complete setup, then visit Agent Services to login and complete your Independent Contractor Agreement. Once that's done, we will activate your license - which also takes up to 1 business day (sometimes less). You CAN fill out the W-9 and 1099 too, but that's really only necessary at the point you close a transaction. In order to get paid, you must complete the W9 and 1099.
If I switch brokerages or just want to cancel my Firelight Membership, do I get any sort of refund?
We do not offer partial refunds. Remember to cancel your Membership before it renews in your Customer Portal HERE. Sorry to see you go, and best of luck. If you want to come back to Firelight and you still have time on your membership (even if you cancel, it's still valid until the 364th day after you signed up), you won't be charged again. Just let us know you want to switch your license back to Firelight. Hey, welcome back.
How do I arrange my payment for an earned commission from a closed transaction?
Go to Agent Services and login. Select the form called Earned Commission.
How do I change or cancel my Membership?
Click on Join/Manage on the top navigation bar and select Manage My Membership. Or click on the live links in the previous sentence.
What kind of discounts do you offer?
We sometimes offer coupon codes on our Homepage or Join/Manage Page. Aside from that, we do not offer any other individual discounts. If you close a transaction during your Membership year, we rebate your Membership cost in full - making it free. Make ONE deal a year and you'll earn a 100% discount. How about that?
What is / Do I need Errors and Omissions Insurance (E&O)?
Every transaction in which you are involved requires E&O - in case you make any errors and/or omissions that end up requiring some financial remedy. Our brokerage's E&O policy is designed to cover you in this rare event. Ours is through Hiscox Insurance, a world-leader in business insurance and covers claims up to $500,000 with a deductible of $2,000. The agent would pay the deductible if a claim arose from a transaction in which they were responsible party (in referral realty this would be particularly rare, but hey, you're insured).
What if I'm happier than I thought with this arrangement?
You're doing it right then.
